The Bayburt Dam ( Turkish Bayburt Barajı ) is located 6.5 km north of the city of Selim in the northeastern Turkish province of Kars .
The Bayburt dam was built in 1995-2011 above the town of Bayburt on Bozkuş Deresi, a left tributary of the Kars Çayı . The dam is used to irrigate an area of 5237 ha and to supply drinking water (18 million m³ per year). The barrier structure is a sand-gravel embankment with a clay core . The dam height above the valley floor is 52 m (57 m according to other sources). The dam volume is 1.79 million m³. The reservoir covers an area of 3.52 km² with normal damming. The storage volume is 52 million m³.
