The insurance group The Bayerische , formerly Bayerische Beamten Versicherungen (BBV), is a group of companies that is active throughout Germany and has its headquarters in Munich- Neuperlach . Its roots go back to 1858. The parent company is Bayerische Beamten Lebensversicherung a. G. Bayerische sells life insurance , property insurance (motor, liability, legal protection, accident) as well as supplementary health insurance. Since the 2016/2017 season, Die Bayerische has been the main and jersey sponsor of the TSV 1860 Munich soccer club .

Bayerische is a mutual insurance association and a member of the General Association of the German Insurance Industry (GDV).

Group of companies

Bayerische Beamten Lebensversicherung a. G. is the core of the insurance group as well as its parent company. The following subsidiaries in the insurance business are managed under this:

  • Bayerische Beamten Versicherung AG (property insurance)
  • New Bayerische Beamten Lebensversicherung AG (life insurance products)

In addition to the insurance business, insurance-related business is carried out in the group, in particular by Bayerische Finanzberatungs- und Vermittlungs-GmbH, which offers financial services. Since 2018, the insurance group has been bundling its sales activities in a new subsidiary called Pro Kunde AG. In addition, Bayerische Digital AG (BayDit AG), founded at the beginning of January 2019, is now bundling all digital activities in order to be able to offer digital solutions on the market in addition to insurance and sales activities.

history

The pension and corpse association for chief conductors and conductors of the Royal Bavarian State Railways (later death fund of Bavarian state servants) was established in 1858. As the legal predecessor of Bavarian Official Life Insurance a. G., the pension and death fund of the Bavarian Transport Association (Bad Brückenau) was founded in 1902. The two clubs merged in 1903.

In 1916 the name was changed to Bayerische Beamtenversicherungsanstalt, mutual insurance association. In 1927 the business was expanded to include the entire territory of the German Reich. From 1929 onwards, all professional groups could take out insurance. The Allgemeine Sachversicherungs-Aktiengesellschaft of the Bayerische Beamtenversicherungsanstalt was founded in 1962. In 1972 the name was changed to the name Bayerische Beamten Lebensversicherung a. G. and Bayerische Beamten Versicherung AG (property insurance). 1987 was the foundation of the new life insurance corporation of the BBV (since 1988 Neue Bayerische Beamten Lebensversicherung AG). BBV Krankenversicherung AG was founded in 1990. In 1999 Klaus Dieter Schweickert, former CEO of Bayerische Beamten Versicherungen (BBV), was arrested for embezzlement and tax evasion.

BBV Krankenversicherung AG started its business operations in 1992. In 2008 BBV Krankenversicherung was sold to the Bavarian Beamtenkrankenkasse . In 2010, all new business in the “Life” segment began to be concentrated on Neue Bayerische Beamten Lebensversicherung AG. 2012 saw the introduction of the new umbrella brand "Die Bayerische". In 2016, Bayerische became the main sponsor of TSV 1860 Munich . Furthermore, Bayerische has been the premium and official insurance partner of EHC Red Bull Munich since the 2017/18 season .
