Bavarian parish brotherhood

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bavarian Parish Brotherhood - Theological Community of Women and Men is an evangelical brotherhood in Bavaria .

history

Everywhere in Germany were in the church struggle of the Confessing Church called brother councils established. The attempt to bring the Evangelical Church into line by the National Socialist State was to be countered with its own structures at the grassroots level. They were theologically connected in their common reference to the Barmen Theological Declaration .

In Bavaria, too, which counts itself among the intact churches , a fraternal council was founded in 1934. He represented the Bavarian Parish Brotherhood externally. The founding members also included Kurt Frör and Karl Steinbauer , who was imprisoned several times for his courageous efforts.

After the Second World War the Bavarian Parish Brotherhood remained. She retained the goal of "waking contemporaneity". The political and social events are analyzed in annual conferences and discussed under the auspices of faith.

Right from the start, the Bavarian Parish Brotherhood had women among its members. She campaigned for the ordination of women in the parish long before this was possible in the Bavarian regional church. The name of the parish brotherhood was retained for the sake of tradition, but in the anniversary year of 1994 the addition of theological fellowship of women and men was added.
