The Bavarian Reinsurance was a German insurance company that existed 90 years under that name.
history
The insurance company was founded in 1906 as an independent stock corporation with the name Bayerische Versicherungsbank , after its predecessors had existed since 1835. First General was Carl Ritter von Rasp . In 1911, in response to the earthquake in San Francisco , the Bayerische Versicherungsbank founded the Bayerische Rückversicherungsbank (later: Bayerische Rückversicherung). Until 1923 the company worked closely with Bayerische Versicherungsbank AG, which was taken over by Allianz insurance that year . The Swiss Reinsurance Company has held the majority of the shares since 1924 . The name was changed to Bayerische Rückversicherung in 1937.
On July 1, 2001, the 90 year old brand was withdrawn from the market. The Bavarian Re was now called Swiss Re Germany AG .
