Bavarian Refugee Council

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Friends of the Bavarian Refugee Council eV based in Munich is a non-governmental organization of refugee solidarity in Munich with around 400 members. It was founded in 1986 and is a member of the federal working group Pro Asyl . Refugee councils also exist in all other federal states. The board members are elected annually at the general meeting.

Legal advice

Through the Pro Asyl legal aid fund, the organization says it supports 20 to 30 procedures of particular importance in the media every year. In addition, it provides legal advice for asylum seekers throughout Bavaria and offers further training for refugee advice centers and volunteers.

Individual help

The Refugee Council supports refugees directly in existential emergencies and intervenes with the responsible institutions. Further help is petitions , public relations and the provision of legal counsel , for example in the event of family separation or deportations .

Project work

The Refugee Council is responsible for numerous voluntary projects:

  • In Café 104 people “without papers” receive legal residence and psychosocial support.
  • Germany Lagerland is an initiative for the abolition of shared accommodation.
  • The Lia project is an information, networking and advice center for female refugees in Bavaria.
  • The project stay! in Bavaria supports refugees in integrating into the labor market. Specifically, refugees as well as relevant institutional and voluntary actors should be informed and qualified for the target group about the access possibilities to the education and labor market and the persons concerned should be helped to exercise their rights.
  • In country-specific networks, some refugee organizations are supported against their deportation (e.g. Syria , Afghanistan ).
  • The on-site project aims to promote the qualification of volunteers in asylum work and inform and advise the helpers.

Campaigns

Campaigns are launched together with other refugee solidarity organizations. Current example: The save-me campaign calls for the regular admission of refugees from crisis regions (according to UNHCR ). In individual cases, deportations to Iraq and Ethiopia were prevented and individual refugee camps were closed. The " Not safe - No deportations to Afghanistan " campaign was launched in May 2016.

Others

The Bavarian Refugee Council offers lectures to gain insights into the topic. The presentations are tailored to any interests and wishes.

Hinterland Magazin appears quarterly and is considered an exotic paper in the left spectrum of the media landscape with an open approach to a wide range of topics. The Bavarian Refugee Council is also co-organizer of the Rage Against Deportation Festival s, where bands such as the Golden Lemons have already played. The festival has been held since 1996 and took place for the first time in 2014 in addition to Munich and Nuremberg, where the Bavarian Refugee Council also maintains the Northern Bavaria office.
