The Bavarian Adult Education Association ( bvv for short ) is the umbrella organization for all 217 adult education centers in Bavaria . The umbrella organization of the adult education associations of the federal states is the German Adult Education Association .

The association has its seat with its own seminar center in Munich and was founded in 1946. He supports the Bavarian adult education centers on the substantive, political and legal level. The Bavarian adult education centers, as communal adult education institutions, fulfill a public educational mandate. They are non-denominational, non-partisan and serve as a place of education and encounter.

In Bavaria, the adult education centers organize their programs in around 1,000 locations (including 800 branch offices). In 2004 there were more than 171,000 adult education centers with a total of 1,445,000 double hours (= 90 minutes) for 2,860,000 people - in addition to exhibitions , lectures and cultural events, mostly seminars and courses.

Legal basis for the work of the Bavarian Adult Education Association

In its work, the Bavarian Adult Education Association is based on the Bavarian constitution and the law on the promotion of adult education in Bavaria.

In Bavaria, adult education is anchored in the constitution. It is part of the municipal code for the Free State of Bavaria and is also guaranteed by the state through the Act to Promote Adult Education.
