The Volkshochschulverband Baden-Württemberg eV is the professional and interest association of the Baden-Württemberg adult education centers . Its aim is to strengthen and expand the position of adult education centers as the leading institution for publicly responsible further education.

The association supports the adult education centers in their content-related and educational work so that they can fulfill their tasks necessary for the future of society. These tasks include:

  • to have a wide range of high quality and inexpensive further training courses available;
  • to give all people the opportunity to develop their personality and to acquire key skills;
  • to work towards social equality and integration and to improve employment opportunities;
  • As the communal culture and further education center, to remain an elementary component of services of general interest and thus to make an important contribution to our democratic community and to the future viability of our country.

The 169 adult education centers with around 700 branches in Baden-Württemberg form a comprehensive network of publicly responsible and funded further education. Every year around 2 million participants attend courses at the adult education centers in Baden-Württemberg.

The work of the association includes the areas of politics-society-environment, culture and design, health, languages, professional development, basic education and school leaving certificates as well as the further training of lecturers and employees of adult education centers.

The office of the Adult Education Association is based in Leinfelden-Echterdingen .

The adult education associations of the federal states have the German Adult Education Association as their umbrella organization.
