Bayonet knife, M7

The Bayonet-Knife M7 (knife bayonet) was used with the series of Rifle 5.56 mm M16 . The bayonet sheath "Scabbard M10" belongs to the bayonet .

With the M7, the predecessor model, the M6, was further developed for the new standard M16 weapon. The design was largely retained, as the M7, like the M6, could also be used as a combat knife .

history

The bayonet was presented in 1964 , together with the M16 , and represents the consistent further development of the M6 bayonet knife .

The M7 bayonet was used until it was replaced by the newly developed M-9 bayonet from 1987 .

Carrying method

The bayonet M7 was prepared using the fixing hook, the Scabbard M10, the hole coupling one, also fixed and supported by means of at Scabbard M10, attached leg on the thigh belt.

Another possibility was to attach the M7 bayonet to the side of the bag of the storm bag with the help of the Scabbard M10 and to fix it with a strap on the bag.

technology

The M7 bayonet is 29.85 cm long and has a blade length of 16.51 cm. It consisted of a blade with a continuous tang , a parrying disc with a hole for attachment to the flash hider of the M16 rifle and a pawl to lock the bayonet on the bayonet mount of the rifle.

The bayonet scabbard, Scabbard M10, was made of plastic and had a metal spring clip inside to fix the bayonet in the scabbard. On the upper part was the steel fastening hook and a fabric strap with a push button for fastening the bayonet handle. There was a hole at the bottom for attaching the leg strap.
