Bayonet Head is a district of the city of Albany in the Australian state of Western Australia .

The name of the place, which is named after the headland of the same name , goes back to the discoverer Philip Parker King , who named it. He didn't say why "Bayonet Head" though.

geography

Bayonet Head is located northeast of Albany on Oyster Harbor , a side bay of King George Sound . To the south, the district is bordered by Collingwood Heights and Emu Point , to the west by the suburb of Walmsley and to the north by the Lower King district .

On the banks of Oyster Harbor, a small piece of forest is protected as The Wesley Maley Reserve .

Infrastructure

Bayonet Head has its own elementary school, Flinders Park Primary School . There are three urban parks: McGonnell Park , Kees Autovermietung Park , and Lange Park .

Bayonet Head is served by the 804 bus route.

Bayonet Head had a population of 2,960 in 2016, of which 49.1% male and 50.9% female. 2.9% of the residents (85 people) are Aboriginal or Torres Strait islanders
