Beate Battenfeld

Beate Battenfeld (* 1963 in Solingen ) is a German historian and archivist. She was chairman of the Bergisches Geschichtsverein (2008-2013).

Life

Battenfeld studied history, politics and folklore at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn and Münster. She completed her master’s degree in 1991. From 1992 she was employed in the registry of the German Industry and Trade Conference in Bonn. Then, from 1993 to 1996, she was a research assistant at the Schriefers Design Collection Foundation in Wuppertal, which is located at the Bergische Universität . At the Federal Association of the German Brick and Tile Industry in Bonn, Battenfeld worked as a research assistant from 1996 to 1997. She did her doctorate in 1997 under Hermann J. Mahlberg on the subject of the historical development of the brick industry in the Bergisches Land . from 1997 she has been corporate archivist at Vorwerk & Co. in Wuppertal. She also worked at Westdeutscher Rundfunk Köln , Library and Archives Department and at the Rheinisch-Westfälisches Wirtschaftsarchiv (RWWA) foundation in Cologne.

She has been working as a freelance historian and archivist since August 2000. Since the same year, Battenfeld has been chairwoman of the Solingen department of the Bergisches Geschichtsverein and from 2008 of the entire association. She handed over the board of the entire association in 2013, and was succeeded by Thomas G. Halbach from Remscheid. She is also a member of the Vereinigung deutscher Wirtschaftsarchivare e. V.
