The Association of German Business Archivists e. V. (VdW) is the interest group of business archivists founded in 1957 .

Members

The VdW currently has over 400 corporate (company, branch or other business archives) and personal members from Germany and German-speaking countries.

Tasks of the association

The VdW represents the interests of business archives and business archivists, advises companies on setting up new archives and other archiving issues, and promotes research on corporate and economic history . The VdW has special specialist and regional working groups on important archival-relevant topics , such as electronic archiving , some of which also publish their work results on the VdW homepage. Once a year, the VdW holds a working conference lasting several days on current specialist topics. Since 1967 the association has published the quarterly magazine Archiv und Wirtschaft ; the tables of contents of the newer editions and individual articles can be viewed on the VdW homepage.

The VdW also offers training and further education measures for archivists.

Prize for the economic archive of the year

Since 2001, the VdW has been awarding the Economic Archive of the Year award at its annual conference for outstanding achievements in the field of historical corporate communication. The honored business archives have taken particularly innovative paths to strengthen awareness of the company's history in their company and in some cases beyond, for example through projects, publications or events.
