Shamita Shetty (born February 2, 1979 in Mangalore , India ) is an Indian interior designer , model and actress .

Life

Shamita Shetty is the daughter of Surendra and Sunanda Shetty, the actress Shilpa Shetty is their older sister.

Shamita Shetty first studied trade at Sydenham College in Mumbai and then graduated as a fashion designer at the SNDT Women's University in Mumbai after three years with a diploma .

She then received an offer from the film production company Yash Raj Films and began working as an actress. For the role of Ishika Dhanrajgir in her debut film Mohabbatein ( Because my love is immortal ), directed by Aditya Chopra , she was awarded the IIFA Award for best female debut in 2000.

From around 2008 she ended her acting career and started working as a painter and interior designer. She designed the nightclub “Royalty” in the Bandra district of Mumbai, which belongs to her family and opened in 2010. She then took courses in interior architecture and design at Inchbald School of Design and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in Westminster , London . She then returned to Mumbai, worked for a year in an architectural office and founded her own company, Golden Leaf Interiors , in 2013 .

In 2015 she took part in the 8th season of Jhalak Dikhhla , the Indian version of Let's Dance , and took 3rd place.
