Beate Heraeus

Beate Heraeus (born November 11, 1951 in Hanover ) is a German economist and entrepreneur. Since 2008 she has been the chairwoman of the Heraeus Education Foundation and, since December 2012, president of Senckenberg , the international society for nature research.

Life

Beate Heraeus attended the St. Ursula Gymnasium in Hanover. She then studied business administration at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

In 1976 Beate Heraeus started at the Munich-based management consultancy Roland Berger & Partner.

From 1979 to 1983 she worked in the family-owned company of Teutonia Zementwerke AG Hanover and deals with questions of organization and strategic planning. From 2003 to 2005 she was a member of the supervisory board of her own family company, Teutonia Zementwerk AG in Hanover.

In 1987 Beate Heraeus became a member of the board of the Heraeus Education Foundation . In this function, she advocates a strategic realignment of the foundation, which has since concentrated on personnel and organizational development in German schools. In 2008 she took over the chairmanship of the foundation.

Since 2006 she has been chairwoman of the Frankfurt / Main Airport Advisory Board for the region.

She is a member of the women's advisory board of Hypo Vereinsbank, the advisory board of the Accenture Foundation in Kronberg and the PwC Foundation in Frankfurt. She is also a member of the board of trustees of Schule Schloss Salem .

Beate Heraeus is the mother of three daughters.

Awards and honors

In 2005, Beate Heraeus was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Department of Foreign Language Philologies at the Philipps University of Marburg.
