Beaux Barfield

Beaux Barfield (born 1971 or 1972 ) is an American sports functional and retired automobile racer . From 2012 to 2014 he was race director of the IndyCar Series . In 2015 he is Race Director of the United SportsCar Championship .

Career

Barfield began his career in motorsport as a racing driver. In 1993 and 1994 he competed in the US F2000 National Championship . In 1993 he was third in the overall ranking, in 1994 he won the oval ranking. In 1995 Barfield moved to Breezley Motorsports in Indy Lights . He took part in two races. Eighth place was his best result. In the overall standings he was 23rd. He then ended his racing career and worked in some racing driver schools.

In 2003 Barfield became a racing steward of the Champ Car series. He held this position until the end of the racing series in 2007. He was also chief steward of the Atlantic Championship in 2006 and 2007 . In 2008 Barfield took over the position of Race Director of the American Le Mans Series . He held this position until the end of 2011. At the beginning of 2012 he was introduced by the IndyCar Series as the new IndyCar race director. There he replaced Brian Barnhart , who had previously been criticized for inconsistent interpretations of rules. Barfield remained Race Director until late 2014.

Barfield has been Race Director of the United SportsCar Championship since 2015 . In this role he is also responsible for the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge .

Personal

Barfield is from Houston , Texas and is in a relationship with Cody Unser. Ours is the daughter of the former racing driver Al Unser junior .
