(1833) Shmakova is an asteroid that was discovered on August 11, 1969 by Lyudmila Tschernych from the Crimean Observatory .
The asteroid is named after Marija Jakowlewna Schmakowa (Мария Яковлевна Шмакова, M. Ya. Shmakova, 1910–1971), who worked at the Institute for Theoretical Astronomy of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.
