History and religion
The village of Beckrath, along with Wickrathberg and Herrath, was one of the few Reformed villages in the region. In 1918 the village also had 41 Jewish residents who belonged to the Wickrathberg synagogue community.
Population and development
Beckrath's population has almost doubled since 1946 and rose from 790 to 1301 in 2000. The further forecast is rising due to several new building projects. In June 2006 the total number of inhabitants of Wickrathhahn, Buchholz, Beckrath and Herrath totaled 3723 inhabitants.
