history

The place was founded as a colony in the first half of the 19th century. The Bedersdorf colony was founded by the Prussian pastor Josef Beder (1773–1855) and named after him. In 1825 Bedersdorf had 67 colonist positions. In 1890 the place had 250 inhabitants.

On July 15, 1924 Bedersdorf was incorporated into the city of Katowice together with Domb , Bogutschütz , Zawodzie , Zalenze , Ellgoth and Brynow .

After the Second World War , the so-called “ familoki ” were replaced by new, low- storey buildings. At the end of the sixties the " Millennium Housing Estate " ("Osiedle Tysiąclecia") - higher apartment buildings - was built.
