Bedford Island is a 1.5 km long island off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the archipelago of the Biscoe Islands it lies at the southern end of the group of Barcroft Islands .
The island was mapped using aerial photographs taken by the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition (1956–1957). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them after the British physicist Thomas Bedford (1875 - unknown), who dealt with the influence of the physical environment on the human body.
