Bedorfer mill
The Bedorfer Mühle is a watermill in the village of Villip in the municipality of Wachtberg in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It also bears the names Broicher Mühle and Villiper Mühle .
history
The mill was first mentioned in a document in 886. At this time, the monks of the Eifel monastery Abbey Prüm signed a so-called precarious contract , in which the mill is mentioned as the subject of an exchange transaction. In this contract, which was typical of the early Middle Ages , a noble belonging to the Carolingian imperial nobility by the name of Hartmann received from the Reichskloster Prüm possessions in Rheinhessen , Lahngau and Auelgau for lifelong usufruct. In return, he transferred his goods in and near Villip to the pious men. He then received these goods back for lifelong use.
The mill
The mill has belonged to the Bedorf family for over 300 years . With three grinding courses , she makes meal from rye , wheat and spelled .
