Beeb Birtles , born as Gerard Bertelkamp (born November 28, 1948 in Amsterdam , Netherlands ) is a Dutch-Australian musician. He is known as one of the founding members of the Little River Band .

When he was 9 years old, his parents immigrated to Adelaide , Australia . During his time in high school, Bertelkamp discovered his interest in music, especially American blues and English mod . When he was in school, his nickname was "BB Eyes," after a character from the Dick Tracy comics. After graduating from high school, he formed his first band, Zoot . At that time he shortened his nickname to "Beeb" and changed his name to "Birtles".

Zoot broke up in 1971. Birtles and his former bandmate Daryl Cotton then founded the combo Frieze . At the end of the year he was hired by the Mississippi band, which had also moved from Adelaide to Melbourne and later became the Little River Band .

After the Little River Band's huge success in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Birtles left the band in 1983. He married Donna Brooks, who worked as a secretary for the Little River Band , and the couple had two daughters.

In 1992, Birtles and his family moved to the United States , Jefferson City , Missouri , before moving on to Nashville , Tennessee . In 1998, Beeb Birtles founded the production company "Sonic Sorbet" together with Bill Cuomo .

Birtles still makes music with Presberger, Goble and Shorrock, who also sang with the Little River Band .
