The Beechcraft Starship , also known as "Starship 2000" and "Starship" for short, is a twin-engine propeller aircraft produced by the aircraft manufacturer Beech Aircraft . The duck plane was one of the most advanced aircraft in civil aviation .

History and construction

The development of the Starship began in 1979. The Beechcraft Starship has a fuselage made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic with a pressurized cabin and two engines in a pusher configuration . The new manufacturing technology, for which, for example, the second largest autoclave in the USA at the time was built, required development costs of more than 300 million US dollars. The first flight was on February 15, 1986, the type certification by the FAA followed on June 14, 1987, at the end of 1988 the first production aircraft was delivered. Of the 53 aircraft built up to 1995, only a few were sold, which were later bought back so that the model no longer had to be looked after. These aircraft were used to obtain spare parts, were given to museums or scrapped.

In 2003, Beechcraft discontinued technical support. Only four machines were still in use in 2006.
