Beeld ( Afrikaans for "picture") is an Afrikaans-language South African daily newspaper which appears in the provinces of Gauteng , Limpopo , Northwest , Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal (the former provinces of Transvaal and Natal ). The newspaper published by Naspers is one of the largest in the country. The editorial office is based in Johannesburg .

The first edition of Beeld appeared on September 16, 1974. With this, the publishing house Naspers from Cape Town began to compete with the other Afrikaans-language newspapers on the press market in the Transvaal. Today Beeld is the only Afrikaans-language daily newspaper in this area. The circulation rose constantly and is now around 200,000 copies (as of March 2006). The newspaper's subtitle is Jou wêreld, jou koerant (“Your world, your newspaper”).
