Before I Grow Old is the first studio album by the Berlin reggae singer Dellé . It was released on September 3, 2009. Dellé released the single Pound Power in advance . The album was made during Seeed's break from the band , where Dellé is one of the three frontmen. The later released deluxe version includes a second CD with three bonus tracks and six dub versions.

The songs deal with central life experiences that the singer had until then. The songs Before I Grow Old and Fly Away call for you to leave home behind and discover the world before you get too old for it. According to Dellé, the African attitude towards life , which is rarely treated , is emphasized in the songs Pound Power , Bad Vibes Champion and Cry Out . The second half of the album mainly revolves around family topics such as cohesion ( Family Thing , which was already released as the B-side of Ding ), loyalty ( Be My Girl ), fatherhood ( You're Why I Wake Up in the Morning ) and responsibility ( head over heels ). Two songs are cover versions of existing songs: Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer (with a featuring by Dellé's cousin REUB ) and the single Power of Love by Frankie Goes to Hollywood . On the song You Girl also controls Seeed -Bandkollege Boundzound in one verse. The Jamaican reggae singer Bushman delivers another featuring on Coming Home .

Stylistically, the album is rooted in roots reggae . Fly Away has a lot of dub elements, Guerilla Maiden has strong rock influences. The hidden track The Future Is Today is an unusual crossover between dancehall and heavy metal .
