Behçet Necatigil
Behçet Necatigil (born April 16, 1916 in Istanbul ; † December 13, 1979 there ) was a Turkish poet, radio play author and translator.
The Germanist and Turkologist was an important representative of modern Turkish poetry. From the German Necatigil has transferred among others Heinrich Böll , Wolfgang Borchert , Günter Eich , Rudolf Hagelstange and Rainer Maria Rilke . In addition, he was the first author of traditional radio plays in Turkey.
Since 1980 he has been awarded the Necatigil Poetry Prize in honor .
