Behschahr (also Behshahr , Persian بهشهر, formerly Ashraf ol Belād ) is a city in the province of Māzandarān in northern Iran , not far from the provincial capital Sārī .
history
Behschahr was once the country residence of Abbas I. Numerous royal palaces and gardens date from this time, only a few of which have survived in rudimentary form. These include the residence of Abbas I , Abbās Ābād , which is located in the middle of a lake named after him, the Safi Ābād - palace located on a hill and the Haram-Khāneh . A number of gardens also date from this period; for example the Bāgh-e Sāheb-oz Zamān , the Bāgh-e Schomāl , the Bāgh-e Tappeh and the Bāgh-e Schāh . In Behschahr there were also encounters between Abbas I and the Italian explorer Pietro della Valle .

Today, many famous people from entertainment and politics live in the city. It is also the seat of a technical university .
Transport and economy
Behschahr is on the Trans-Iranian Railway .
In Behschahr there is the textile factory Tschit Sāzi , a food factory u. a. for the production of vegetable oil and Tochmeh , also the detergent is here Rika prepared.
