Beijing Benz Automotive

Beijing Benz Automotive Co Ltd. (BBAC, Chinese  北京 奔驰 汽车 有限公司 ) is a Chinese automobile and commercial vehicle manufacturer. It is a joint venture between Daimler AG , Daimler Greater China Ltd. and the Beijing Automotive Group .

history

Beijing Jeep Corporation, founded in 1984 (a joint venture between AMC and BAW), was acquired by Chrysler in 1987 . After the takeover of Chrysler by Daimler-Benz , the company was renamed Beijing Benz-DaimlerChrysler Automotive Co., Ltd. in 2005 . renamed. Other sources cite the year 2004.

Daimler AG's entry went hand in hand with the construction of a new plant, which opened in 2006. To celebrate the 25,000. Chancellor Angela Merkel was present in the new plant . After separating from Chrysler in 2007, the company was renamed Beijing Benz Automotive .

This location is now the largest Daimler AG plant. The factory was named Factory of the Year in 2016. In the same year, the one millionth Mercedes-Benz vehicle was also produced.

According to the company, 11,500 people are employed there.

Models

Even after the separation, Daimler was obliged to continue to cooperate with Chrysler in China. Thus models like the Mitsubishi Outlander , the Chrysler 300C , the Chrysler Sebring and the Jeep Grand Cherokee were also produced. The company's own range includes the C-Class and E-Class as well as the Mercedes-Benz GLK . Then there are the GLA and the GLC .

The BJ models were sold under the name Beijing Jeep , later also as Beijing-Benz or Beijing-Benz Mitsubishi . Since 2009 only Mercedes-Benz vehicles have been produced.
