Confession is the name given to the individual or representative open expression or the making public of an issue affecting the actor or a group, in particular as an affirmation , emphasis , declaration , pledge or promise .

Law and Criminology

In the legal field, one speaks more of a confession , in the criminal field, however, a written confession before an arrest is called a letter of confession .

In the naturalization law in particular, a commitment to the free democratic basic order is required as a prerequisite for acquiring German citizenship (cf. § 10 Paragraph 1 StAG). According to the jurisprudence, this confession must correspond to the truth and can therefore not be made subject to an internal reservation.

Religion and belief
