Belding Island is a 5 km long island off the west coast of the Antarctic Graham Land . It belongs to the Biscoe Islands and is located immediately west of the southern end of Watkins Island .
It was mapped using aerial photographs taken by the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition (1956–1957). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them after the American physician Harwood S. Belding (1909-1973), head of the Quartermaster Climatic Research Laboratory of the United States Army in Lawrence , Massachusetts , who was scientifically involved in developing suitable clothing for polar people Regions employed.
