Belfield is a village in the province of Demerara-Mahaica in Guyana . It is on the Atlantic coast, three kilometers west of Enmore . Belfield was connected to the Demerara-Berbice Railway in 1854, the first section of which was opened in 1848 from Georgetown to Plaisance . Belfield Girl's School , a juvenile detention center , has existed in the village since 1949 .
