The Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications ( Dutch Belgian Instituut voor postdiensten en telecommunicatie , French Institut belge des services postaux et des télécommunications , BIPT for short ) is the Belgian regulatory authority for the telecommunications and postal market. It is based in Brussels . The Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications was founded in 1991 as a semi-public authority. It is the member administration of the CEPT .

As a federal authority, it performs the following functions:

  • Regulation of the electronic communications market
  • Regulation of the postal market
  • Management of the spectrum of radio frequencies
  • Media regulation in the Brussels-Capital Region .
