The Bellever Tor Cairns are a group of ten Bronze Age Cairns , some of them with a more or less well-preserved stone box , which are located at the Bellever Tor (a rock formation) and were so named by Jeremy Butler in the 19th century. Bellever Tor is located at Postbridge in Dartmoor , in the county of Devon in England . The distribution of the cairns is limited to the western and south-western slopes of Bellever Tor. This area is free of surface rock as it was collected for the Cairns.

Cairn 1 (with stone box)

The best preserved cairn was described in 1890 and its stone box had already been looted. At this point, the hill and the stone box were still in good condition. Today only three stones of the box are left. In 1901 the box was examined but found empty.

Cairn 2

It is unclear whether this is a heap of reading stones or a cairn. Jeremy Butler described it in his day as a curb with curbs.

Cairn 3 (with stone box)

Remnants of a curb ring in the form of two pairs of stones on either side of the box have been preserved. The stone box is in good condition, only the top plate is missing.

Cairn 4

This is a ring cairn about 11 m in diameter and about 0.5 m high. It surrounds an elevated interior.

Cairn 5

This pile of stones is about a meter high and surprisingly shows no signs of a box.

Cairn 6 (with stone box)

Seven stones have been preserved from the curb. There are only one end and one side panel of the box.

Cairn 7

Removed stone material and a modern moat cast doubts about the originality of this Cairns.

Cairn 8

The report from 1890 describes this cairn as badly damaged and today only a few stones are left.

Cairn 9 (with stone box)

Cairn 9 is a low pile of stones that still has its central box, of which only the top plate is missing.

Cairn 10

Except for a single slab of the stone box, this cairn is stripped of all its stones.
