Ben Hall (singer)
Ben Hall (born June 13, 1924 in Alvord , Texas ) is an American country singer. He is the author of the song Blue Days - Black Nights , which was later recorded by Buddy Holly .
Life
Ben started his career in 1949 at the talent label in Dallas . He worked on numerous radio stations in Texas. In 1951 Hall moved to Lubbock , where he founded the Country Drifters with his wife Dena ( bass ) and Weldon Myrick ( electric guitar , steel guitar ) and made appearances on the KSEL broadcaster. He often played with the young and then unknown Buddy Holly . In 1956, Hall made another single with Cord, Moo Mama . This title, held in rockabilly style, is now considered one of the most famous Texas rockabilly songs. Other rockabilly titles such as Be Bop Ball followed . In the late 1950s, Hall took on the Gaylo label.
In 2003 Rollercoaster Records released the CD Country Ways and Rockin 'Days with 28 songs by Hall.
