Ben Lipps

Ben J. Lipps (* 1940 ) is an American manager . From 1999 to 2012 he was CEO of Fresenius Medical Care . During this time the company rose to become the world market leader. Since 2013 he has been Honorary Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Fresenius Medical Care.

Ben Lipps studied chemical engineering at Purdue University in Indiana, and received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology . He led a research team at Dow Chemical who developed an artificial hollow fiber membrane in the late 1960s. Dialysis has always been his main field of work .

From 1985 to 1996 he was CEO of Fresenius USA and from 1996 until his appointment as CEO of Fresenius Medical Care in 1999 as CEO of Fresenius Medical Care North America.

Since September 2013 he has been CEO of the Berlin-based MagForce AG , a biotechnology company .
