Benedicte Maurseth

Benedicte Maurseth (* 1983 in Eidfjord , Hardanger ) is a Norwegian folk singer and musician. She plays the Hardanger fiddle typical of the region , also using examples from the 17th or 18th century, and sees herself in the field of tension between folk and baroque music .

Supported by scholarships from her home community and the Norwegian state, she learned to play the violin at the Ole Bull Academy , with Stein Veisto, Leiff Rygg, Bjarte Eike and Peter Spissky.

In addition to her home country, she performed in Sweden, Iceland, Austria, Belgium, the USA and Canada. In Germany she played at TFF Rudolstadt in 2010 and at folkBALTICA in 2011 .
