District court St. Blasien

The district court of St. Blasien is a court of ordinary jurisdiction in Baden-Württemberg and one of five district courts in the district of the district court of Waldshut-Tiengen . It is the smallest district court in Baden-Württemberg. The rank of the smallest district court in Germany has been transferred to the district court of Bad Gandersheim in Lower Saxony after its district was downsized . After the Titisee-Neustadt District Court , it is the second highest district court in Germany geographically.

Seat and District of the Court

The district court has its seat in St. Blasien . The judicial district includes the city of St. Blasien and the communities of Bernau in the Black Forest , Dachsberg , Häuser , Ibach , Höchenschwand and Todtmoos . The district court of St. Blasien is therefore responsible for only about 13,500 residents.

The court is housed in the former lower chancellery building of the former Benedictine monastery, which separates the cloister courtyard from the spa garden. The building was designed by Johann Caspar Bagnato on behalf of Prince Abbot Meinrad Troger and built between 1755 and 1757. Its front side facing the cathedral is painted with a baroque sundial, but the attribution to Johann Anton Morath is not entirely certain.

Superior courts

The district court of Waldshut-Tiengen is superordinate to the district court of St. Blasien . The competent higher regional court is the higher regional court in Karlsruhe .
