history
Neustadt was first mentioned as a court in 1316 in an estate process.
From 1579 to 1806 Neustadt was responsible as the Fürstenberg local court for the four offices over Wald Neustadt, Lenzkirch , Löffingen and Vöhrenbach .
The Neustädter Obervögte were both judges and heads of the bailiwick . In 1622, Christian Sandhaas, who came from Wolfach, became chief bailiff and thus judge in Neustadt. Through careful administration, he spared the Neustadt office from the often state-legitimized persecution of witches by rejecting denunciations.
Until 1814 Neustadt was also the seat of the high courts . Death sentences were carried out on the gallows .
Superior courts
The Freiburg Regional Court is superordinate to the Titisee-Neustadt District Court. The competent higher regional court is the higher regional court in Karlsruhe .
