The Benighted Pass ( English ) is a snowy mountain pass in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It runs in the Barker Range of the Victory Mountains between Mount Watt and Mount Roy .
The name goes back to the New Zealand geologist Malcom Laird. He named him after the fact that his team had to set up camp here in a research campaign that lasted from 1981 to 1982 "surprised by the night" (English benighted ).
