The Benignitas Community is a feminine institute of consecrated life in the Roman Catholic Church . It is a secular institute of diocesan law and was founded in 1949.

history

The community was founded in Regensburg in 1949 . The decisive factor was the post-war hardship for children and young people. Women banded together and took care of those in need. Benignitas ( Latin ) means “ virtuous goodness ”, “kindness”. The women were guided by the motto from Paul's letter to Titus 3, 4 EU , in which it says: "But when the goodness and human love of God, our Savior, appeared, he saved us."

Community life

For the members who live in small communities or individual households , their work means recognizing the realities of life and needs and offering solidarity and help. The participants live in the midst of the people and, according to the evangelical councils, realize their vows of poverty, celibacy and obedience. Their offers include Bible evenings, prayer hours and prayer nights. The celebration of Holy Mass is part of everyday life as well as worship , meditation , prayers of the hours and reading of the scriptures .
