Benito Cabrera Hernández (* 1963 in Lanzarote , Spain ) is a regionally known musician from the Canary Islands . His instrument is the traditional guitar-like instrument of the archipelago, the timple .

Cabrera went to Tenerife in 1982 , where he studied psychology at the University of San Cristóbal de La Laguna .

In 1989 he won a regional competition by Timple musicians. Benito Cabrera is the author of the song " Nube de Hielo " one of the deeply rooted songs between canaries.

Cabrera is the interpreter and composer of the Timple. He also performs at concerts far from the Canary Islands. He made the Timple famous not only in folklore, but also in classical and pop music. He has also made a name for himself as a musicologist.

The text written by Cabrera for a piece entitled Arrorró from Teobaldo Power's orchestral work Cantos Canarios was chosen in 2003 as the lyrics of the official anthem of the autonomous community of the Canary Islands.
