Benjamin Blech

Benjamin Blech (* 1933 in Zurich ) is an Orthodox rabbi in New York City .

He received a Bachelor of Arts from Yeshiva University (YU) in New York and a Master of Arts in psychology from Columbia University . The semicha (formal appointment as rabbi) took place at Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of the YU .

In 1966 he became professor of Talmud at the YU . In addition, he was long rabbi of the National Council of Young Israel . He wrote twelve bestsellers on Judaism .

In January 2005 he was invited to Pope John Paul II with two other rabbis .
