Benno Lemke (born December 17, 1958 in Stralsund ; † June 12, 2010 in Erfurt ) was a German politician ( Die Linke ). He was a member of the Thuringian state parliament from 1994 to 1999 and from 2003 to 2009 .

Life

After completing the 10th grade, Lemke completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic from 1975 to 1977 . The subsequent military service with the NVA ( Volksmarine ) was followed by activities as a car mechanic and department head and, from 1985, studying mechanical engineering, which he completed in 1989 as a graduate engineer. After 1990 he worked as the exempt works council chairman and managing director of a Thuringian wholesale company based in Erfurt.

From 1994 to 1999 Lemke belonged to the Thuringian state parliament for the then PDS for the first time, then from 2000 to 2004 he was managing director of the state traffic watch in Brandenburg. In autumn 2003 he returned to the Thuringian state parliament to replace Konrad Scheringer . In the 2004 state elections , he entered the state parliament again. There he was the transport policy spokesman for his group and a member of the Committee on Construction and Transport. For the state elections in 2009 he ran as a constituency candidate in the constituency of Unstrut-Hainich-Kreis II as well as in 22nd place on the state list of his party, but missed direct re-entry into the state parliament.

Since summer 2009 he has been a member of the Erfurt city council (DIE LINKE parliamentary group), a member of the construction and transport committees as well as education and sport . He was sent by the city council to the supervisory board of Erfurt Airport , to the supervisory board of Erfurter Verkehrsbetriebe AG (EVAG) and as a member of the board of directors of Mittelthüringische Sparkasse. He volunteered as chairman of the Landesverkehrswacht Thüringen e. V. and as chairman of the sports club Blau-Weiß 52 Erfurt e. V.

Lemke died in June 2010 of cancer .
