Benny Poulsen (born August 11, 1942 in Copenhagen , † July 21, 2004 in Denmark ) was a Danish actor .

biography

Poulsen performed in the ballet at Det Kongelige Teater in Copenhagen from the age of seven to the age of 23 . In 1970 he began acting training at the Odense Theater. He then had many appearances and several roles at the Odense Teater , Det Danske Teater , Aarhus Teater and Det Kongelige Teater. At the theater he had leading roles in the following plays: Nøddebo Præstegaard , Cyrano de Bergerac , En idealist , Egelykke and Fruentimmerskolen . Poulsen also taught for several years at acting schools at the Odense Teater, the Statens Teaterskole, as well as at Den Kongelige Ballet and at the Operaakademiet .

He was also involved as a film actor in several Danish films and television productions. In the television series Kaj Munk he played the main role of Kaj Munk and he had other important roles in the series Een stor familie and in Bryggeren . Moreover played Poulsen in Lars von Trier's films Europe and in spirit I with.

Private

In 1972 his son Frederik was born, whom he had together with the actress Charlotte Neergaard . Since 1996 Poulsen was married to the actress and colleague Grethe Holmer . After his death he was buried at Gilleleje Kirkegård (Gilleleje Cemetery) in North Zealand ( Nordsjælland ), in the fishing village of Gilleleje .
