economy
There are oil reserves in the vicinity of the city, most of which are exploited by the Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company . The infrastructure has been gradually restored since 2005, so that since 2006 there has been a brisk trade in Bentiu and the surrounding area.
Infrastructure
Two airfields are to the west and north of the city, and an oil pipeline runs east of the city and connects the Duar oil field to the main pipeline to Bur Sudan via Khartoum.
After the destruction caused by the civil war in South Sudan , work has been carried out on restoring the infrastructure since the peace agreement in 2005. The oil companies operating in the region are building all-weather roads that connect Bentiu to Rumbik , among others, to the south . A dredger was also used to make the Bahr al-Ghazal navigable again to the No-See . The work was completed in May 2006, so that Bentiu is now connected by river to the cities of Malakal , Kusti and Khartoum in the north via the White Nile and to the cities of Bur and Juba in the south via the Bahr al-Jabal .
