Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company (GNPOC) is an oil company based in Sudan . According to its own information (as of early 2006), GNPOC produces more than 300,000 barrels of oil per day. After the completion of a pipeline in April 2006 that connects the oil fields in South Sudan with Khartoum and Port Sudan , production is expected to increase to 500,000 barrels of oil per day by the end of 2006.
The company owns concessions for units 1, 2 and 4.
GNPOC was incorporated on June 18, 1997 and is a joint venture currently owned by the following companies:
- China National Petroleum Corporation from China with a share of 40%
- Petronas from Malaysia with a share of 30%
- ONGC from India with a share of 25%
- Sudapet from Sudan with a share of 5%
