Berbeşti ( Eng . Berbesch , Hungarian Bárdfalva ) is a village in Romania in the Maramureş district .
According to a census in 2002, it had about 1500 inhabitants. There is a museum in the village.
A special attraction is the Berbeşti miners' altar, the “Troiță de la Berbeşti” from the 17th century. According to legend, it was created by an artist who was the serf of a count. Through the creation of the special work of art, he was allegedly waived serfdom.
In the museum of Maramureș u. a. a grind from a Berbeşti mill. A Romanian postage stamp in a series of six farmhouses from 1989 shows an 18th century farmhouse from Berbeşti.
