The Bernkastel area is a wine-growing area in the Moselle wine-growing region in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Vines on 5904 hectares are mainly cultivated on steep slopes . This corresponds to around 65 percent of all wine growing on the Moselle, Saar and Ruwer. The area thus embodies the heart of the Moselle wine-growing region. The most common grape variety is Riesling ; In addition, Burgundy, Rivaner, Kerner and Dornfelder, among others, are produced in small quantities.

In the Bernkastel area is also the Bernkasteler Doctor , which is considered the most expensive and one of the most important locations in Germany.
