Bergei Rysqaliev

Bergei Säulebajuly Rysqalijew ( Kazakh Бергей Сәулебайұлы Рысқалиев , Russian Бергей Саулебаевич Рыскалиев / Bergei Saulebajewitsch Ryskalijew * 21st January 1967 ) is a Kazakh politician .

Life

Bergei Rysqalijew was born in 1967 in Maqat County, Atyrau Region . He graduated from the Academy of Architecture and Construction in Almaty in 1991 . Another degree was obtained from the Kazakh Academy of Law in 2000.

He began his professional career in 1991 as a foreman in the Sapkasenergo company. In the following years he held managerial positions at various companies, including deputy directors of Odissei and Ajaschan as well as directors of the oil company Schat and Batys-Munai. In 2001 he was a board member of CNPC-AktobeMunaiGas and from 2002 to 2003 he headed the Kasvneschmash branch in Atyrau. In 2003 Rysqaliyev worked for the regional administration in Atyrau . From 2005 to 2006 he held the post of Deputy Äkim of the Atyrau region. Then he was Äkim (mayor) of the city of Atyrau from February to October 2006 and then until 2012 Äkim (governor) of the Atyrau region. On August 16, 2012, he was released from office for health reasons. A little later, Rysqaliev's former employees were arrested for corruption . The central figure in the corruption scandal in the Atyrau region was his brother Amanschan Rysqali. The Kazakh financial police accused the criminal group of embezzling around 71 billion tenge . In November 2014, the defendants were sentenced to prison terms of between twelve and 14 years; Rysqalijew was on the run.
