The Bergen IK (offziel mountains Ishockyklubb ) is a Norwegian ice hockey club from Bergen . The team has been playing in the 2nd division since 2017 and plays its home games in the Bergenshallen .
history
The club was founded in 1980 and initially played in the third division of Norway. At the same time there was SK Djerv in Bergen , whose first team played for several seasons between 1979 and 1983 in the country's top division, the then 1. divisjon .
In 1983 the Bergen IK rose from the 3rd divisjon to the 2nd divisjon and initially remained in this division. In 1986 the SK Djerv managed to move up from the 2nd to the 1st divisjon. In order to form a competitive team for the top division, the Sk Djerv and the Bergen IK cooperated in the period that followed.
The game community Bergen IK / SK Djerv belonged to the highest Norwegian ice hockey league from the 1986/87 season to 1990 . Then the syndicate was dissolved and the Bergen IK took part in the game operation of the 2nd divisjon. After the dissolution of the Spektrum Flyers in 1996, their management took over the Bergen IK and in 2003 led them back to the top division as Bergen Flyers .
The team last rose at the end of the 2004/05 season . As a result of relegation, the Bergen Flyers went bankrupt and the Bergen IK started in the third division, the 2nd divisjon. A year later, he was promoted to the 1st division, in which the first team played until 2017 and then relegated again.
