The Spektrum Flyers were a Norwegian ice hockey club from Oslo . The team played from 1994 to 1996 in the Eliteserien , the highest Norwegian league, and played their home games in the Oslo spectrum .

history

The two top Oslo clubs Manglerud Star and Furuset IF decided in 1994 to merge the professional teams of their ice hockey departments. The joint team received the starting place from Manglerud Star in the Eliteserien , in which they began playing for the 1994/95 season . In their first season, the team, which played in the largest ice hockey stadium in the country at the time, the Oslo Spektrum , immediately reached the intermediate playoff round , but lost to Stjernen Hockey and the eventual master Storhamar Dragons . In the following season , the team failed again in the playoff intermediate round. Due to the low average attendance and the high costs of home games in Oslo Spektrum, the management decided in January 1996 to relocate the club to Bergen . The Flyers playoff home games were held in the Bergenhallen and attracted up to 2,500 spectators. With the move, Manglerud Star terminated the collaboration and resumed playing in the Elite Series with its own professional department for the 1996/97 season .

In the early summer of 1996 the Spektrum Flyers were dissolved. Management and employees moved to locally based Bergen IK , which was renamed Bergen Flyers .
