Tommy Jakobsen in 2006

Tommy Jakobsen began his professional career in 1987 with his hometown club Furuset IF in Oslo . There he played 165 games in the Eliteserien in 5 years, in which he was able to achieve 13 goals and 16 assists. Jakobsen's greatest success with Furuset IF came in the 1989/90 season when the team won the Norwegian championship. At Furuset, the Norwegian was one of the leading players and was used in the senior national team from 1992.

After this great leap in development, Jakobsen moved from Furuset IF to Lillehammer in the summer of 1992 . At Lillehammer IK Jakobsen played two years and was in his second season as team captain again Norwegian champion. After the championship and participation in the Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Jakobsen moved back to his hometown Oslo. However, he only stayed one season with the Spektrum Flyers based there .

In 1995 Jakobsen got the offer to play for one of the most traditional European clubs. Therefore, he moved to Djurgårdens IF Stockholm for the 1995/96 season . But Jakobsen found it difficult to get along in the strong Swedish league. In 36 games for Stockholm, the Norwegian only recorded one assist.

Germany

So it was not difficult for Jakobsen to announce his departure from Stockholm in the summer of 1996 and to switch to Augsburg in Bavaria to the Augsburg Panthers playing there . Germany should emerge as a second home for the Norwegian defender. Jakobsen played for the Augsburg Panthers for a total of 6 years until he moved to Düsseldorf for the 2002/03 season, where he played for the DEG Metro Stars for 4 years .

In a total of 10 years in the DEL , Jakobsen played 481 games. He scored 41 goals, prepared 123 hits (164 scorer points) and served 709 penalty minutes. After all, his most successful season was his last in Germany. During the 2005/06 season won Jakobsen with the DEG Metro Stars the German Ice Hockey Cup and the runner-up after three defeats in the play-off final series against the Eisbären Berlin .

Austria and Norway

From the 2006/07 season onwards , Tommy Jakobsen played for the Graz 99ers in the Austrian Bundesliga . Even before the season he was appointed team captain under the then coach Mike Bullard and remained so under his successors. After the 99ers missed qualification for the playoffs in the 2007/08 season , Jakobsen moved to SC Bern in Switzerland on January 31, 2008 for the rest of the season , where he got the last foreign license. In March Jakobsen signed again with the 99ers. For the 2009/10 season Jakobsen returned to his homeland in Norway and signed a contract with Lørenskog IK , for which he has played in the GET-league ever since. With the 2011/12 season, Jakobsen was promoted to captain of the team; he also held this position in the following season. After the end of the 2012/13 season, Jakobsen announced the end of his career.
